Revelation 3:14-22; And unto the angel of the church of the Laodiceans write: These things saith the Amen, the faithful and true witness, the beginning of creation of God; I know thy works, that thou are neither cold nor hot: I would that thou wert cold or hot. So then because thou art lukewarm, and neither cold nor hot, I will spue you out of my mouth. Because thou sayest, I am rich, and increased with goods, and have need of nothing; and not that thou art wrethched, and miserable, and poor, and blind, and naked: I counsel thee to buy of me gold tried in the fire, that thou mayest be rich; and white raiment, that thou mayest be clothed, and the shame of thy nakedness do not appear; and annoint thine eyes with eyesalve, that thou mayest see. As many as I love, I rebuke and chasten: be zealous therefore and repent. Behold I stand at the door, and knock: if any man hear my voice, and open the door, I will come in to him, and will sup with him, and he with me. To him that overcometh will I grant to sit with me in my throne, even as I also overcame, and am sat down with my father in his throne. He that hath an ear, let him hear what the Spirit saith unto the churches.
Greetings brethren. The Lord has placed a message upon my heart that speaks to us who are followers of the Lord Jesus Christ, to walk worthy in Him. As I was reading the Lord’s holy word, the Holy Spirit impressed upon my heart to give a message about our lukewarmness as a church in these last days. The Lord spoke to my heart as I read about the church of Laodicea in the book of Revelation. I was so convicted of the lukewarmness in my own life, that I fell on my face before the Lord and asked forgiveness of my sin. For so often I have lived a life of compromise before the Lord, and I have been a friend of the world, which has caused enmity between myself and the Lord Jesus. I should have been living a life set apart unto Him, but instead I had one foot in the world, and one foot in the church. I believed that my life was just fine, and that I did not need to seek after the Lord’s holiness for my life. How wrong I was, and I came to a place of surrender in my life, and since then I have not taken my hand off of the plow nor have I looked back. Luke 9:62 states; And Jesus said unto him, No man, having put his hand to the plough, and looking back, is fit for the kingdom of God.
The Lord speaks to us as His followers to be separate from the world. We are to seek the face of the Lord for His direction in our lives, and to understand that to be a friend of the world is to be an enemy of God. James 4:4 states; ye adulterers and adulteresses, know ye not that the friendship of the world is enmity with God? whosoever therefore will be a friend of the world is the enemy of God. What a powerful scripture! For I know in my life that I was definitely a friend of the world, and as a result I was lost in my sin and away from the Lord. However, the Lord was merciful unto me, and He saved me from my sin, and he can do the same for you if you would but ask Him. Be ye separate from the world my brethren, and you will begin to see the Lord’s blessing come upon your lives as a result of your obedience to Him. 2 Corinthians 6:17 states; wherefore come out from among them, and be ye separate, saith the Lord, and touch not the unclean thing; and I will receive you. The Lord Jesus is indeed calling us to be separate from the world, and as we do this, the Lord will receive us unto Himself.
Often times we try to make the Lord into our own image instead of us letting Him make us in His image. We often times believe the lie that we can live our lives according to the flesh and the lusts thereof, and that the Lord in His grace and mercy will overlook our sin. I must emphatically say that the Lord does not overlook our sin, for the Lord cannot look upon sin, and He calls us to live holy lives set apart unto Himself. The Lord Jesus is returning for a church that is without spot or wrinkle. We are to be a bride that is a chaste virgin, prepared for our Groom, the Lord Jesus, who are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. We are to be wholly set apart unto the Lord and to Him alone. The Lord Jesus is calling us at this hour to set ourselves apart from the world, and forsake the lusts of the flesh, in preparation for out Bridegroom, the Lord Jesus Christ. Are you set apart unto the Lord, or are you friends with the world? Revelation 19:9 states; And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. Brethren, prepare yourselves for your bridegroom, for the Lord Jesus is returning soon for a church that is adorned with holiness, and set apart unto her Lord.
We as followers of the Lord Jesus must turn from our lukewarmness, as this is what the Lord is calling us to do in this hour. We are indeed living in the last days, and the Lord Jesus is returning very soon. We must prepare ourselves for His soon return by casting off the works of the flesh which soil our garments. We must be obedient to the Lord in this hour by doing those things which He is calling us to do in this hour. Galatians 5:19-21states; Now the works of the flesh are manifest which are these; Adultery, fornication, uncleanness, lasciviousness, idolatry, witchcraft, hatred, variance, emulations, wrath, strife, seditions, heresies, Envyings, murders, drunkenness, revelings and such like: of which I tell you before, as I have told you in time past, that they which do such things shall not inherit the kingdom of God. Brethren, the Lord is calling us as His followers to put off the works of the flesh, and be reconciled unto Him. Do not be deceived by the enemy, for the Lord is calling us to be unspotted by the world. We are to actively pursue holiness in our walk with Jesus, and give no place to the devil. Jame 1:27 states; Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
Be encouraged brethren, as you begin to live a life that is pleasing unto the Lord, He will blot out all of your transgressions and sins. The Lord wants us to come to Him in repentance, and turn from our love of the world, and place our hope and trust in Him. As we do this, the blessing form the Lord will be such that we will not be able to contain it. Trust in the Lord Jesus today, for He is at the door of your heart, and He wants to come in and wash you clean. Will you answer the door of your heart, or will you continue in your lukewarmness which leads to separation between us and God? Return to your first love, for the time is short, and the hour fast approaches when we will be called to give an account of how we lived our lives. Did we live our lives holy and set apart unto our Lord, or did we live a life of compromise and sin, bringing a reproach upon the name of our holy Lord Jesus. Revelation 2:4-5 states; Nevertheless I have somewhat against thee, because thou hast left thy first love. Remember therefore from whence thou hast fallen, and do the first works; or else I will come unto thee quickly, and I will remove thy candlestick out of his place, except thou repent. Amen.
